Aden Landscaping has been designing and building landscapes out of Capitol Hill for16 years. In that time the city has taught us the same lesson it teaches everyone who builds here: the finish is the easy part. What decides whether a patio is still flat in five years is what went underneath it, and what decides whether a wall is still standing is whether anyone thought about where the water goes.
Seattle sits on glacial till — a compacted hardpan that holds water rather than letting it through — under 38 inches of annual rain that arrives almost entirely between October and March. Build without accounting for that and the yard tells you within one winter. Most of what we do differently comes down to taking that seriously at the quoting stage rather than the repair stage.

How we work
Four things we will not compromise on.

The buried work is the work
Base depth, compaction in lifts, drainage behind a wall, geotextile that stops rock silting up. None of it is visible when the job is finished, all of it decides whether the job is still good in ten years, and it is the first thing a cheap quote removes.

Say when the cheaper answer is right
A regrade instead of a French drain. A downspout tie-in instead of a whole system. Overseeding instead of turf. We lose work by saying this and we would rather lose it than sell somebody a system that does not address their problem.

Check the rules before quoting, not after
Whether the parcel is in an Environmentally Critical Area, what the wall height threshold is, whether an HOA has architectural review. All of it is cheap to establish at the start and expensive to discover mid-build.

Price the access honestly
A patio that takes two days on an Eastside lot with a driveway takes four on a Capitol Hill lot where every barrow goes through a three-foot gate. We walk the route before quoting, which sometimes makes our number look higher than a quote from someone who has not thought about it yet.

A fixed, accurate price is guaranteed before the job starts. We do not quote low and raise it mid-project.

A 0% interest payment plan is available for up to 6 months.
Warranty on hardscaping
Hardscaping work carries a warranty. Vegetation is excluded.

About the company
The questions people ask about us.
Who actually turns up to do the work?
Our own crews, using our own equipment. The company runs 15+ specialists, each with 10+ years of experience, retrained and recertified at least once a year — and a project manager is on your site every day the crew is. We do not subcontract the build out to whoever is available that week, which is why we take one project at a time rather than starting four and rotating between them.
Why do you not take a deposit?
Because the deposit is where most bad contractor stories start, and removing it moves the risk off the customer and onto us. You pay when the project is complete. It works for us because we plan properly, price accurately and finish what we start — and it filters out the kind of job where expectations were never really agreed. A 0% interest payment plan is available for up to six months if spreading the cost helps.
How can the price be fixed before the work starts?
By doing the assessment properly rather than quickly. Most mid-project price increases come from something that was visible on the first visit and nobody looked at — the access route, the real depth of the excavation, where water actually goes. We walk the site, check the grade and the drainage, look up the parcel where a permit question is likely, and price what is actually there. The written estimate is itemised so you can see what is included, and it does not move once agreed.
What is not covered by the warranty?
Vegetation. Hardscaping work carries a warranty; plants do not, because whether a plant lives depends on watering and conditions after we leave, which is outside anyone's control but yours. We will tell you what each planting needs to survive its first two summers and specify things that suit the position rather than things that look good in June. Ask for the current warranty terms in writing with your estimate.
Do you work outside the areas listed on the site?
Sometimes, and we would rather be asked than assumed. The 25 areas on the site are a workable daily-crew radius from Capitol Hill, which is why places that look close on a map — anything the far side of a ferry, or up past Everett — are not on the list. If your address sits just outside one of them, call and ask. The honest answer is sometimes yes, and sometimes that you would be better served by someone based closer to you.

All 15 services are delivered by our own crews. Each page carries a real price range, because a homeowner cannot evaluate a quote without one.
